Music
Making music together
Music at The Perse Prep enables every child to become an active musician. Through singing, composing, listening and performing, pupils develop their musical skills while exploring music from a wide range of cultures and traditions. Specialist teaching ensures that every child is challenged and supported, from their first musical experiences to advanced performance.
Learning through music
Music lessons combine whole-class singing, composition and ensemble performance, helping pupils develop musicianship, creativity and self-expression. As they progress through the Prep School, children build their understanding of musical elements and styles while learning to perform, collaborate and communicate through music.
Beyond the classroom
Music plays a vibrant role in life at The Perse Prep. Pupils can join choirs, orchestras, bands and chamber groups, perform in assemblies, concerts and productions, and take on leadership opportunities through mentoring and musical ambassador roles.
Pupils perform in two major concerts each year at the Upper School Performing Arts Centre, while Year 3 pupils visit Denis Wilson Court to share songs from their Christmas production. Musical activity days and school productions provide further opportunities to develop performance skills and experience live music-making.
