Year 12 Physics pupils launch the ‘Big Bang Bulletin’
A group of Perse Year 12 Physics pupils have produced the inaugural edition of The Big Bang Bulletin, a brand-new student-led newsletter packed with original research, news, and physics challenges.

The first edition features a range of impressive student-written pieces, from a news article on China’s ‘Artificial Sun’ nuclear fusion breakthrough to original research projects exploring topics as varied as the optimal launch angle in golf, the philosophical implications of quantum mechanics, how aCPU works at the level of physics, and the quark gluon plasma that filled the universe in its first microsecond.
Elise Middleton, Teacher of Physics, said: “We are delighted to launch the very first edition of The Big Bang Bulletin. This exciting new Physics newsletter was conceived, written, and edited by our fantastic Year 12 Physics students, with remarkably little staff input along the way. I am incredibly proud of everything they have achieved in producing such an engaging and thoughtful first edition.”

The newsletter, written by pupils Matthew, Nachiketh, Chenning, and Katie, also includes a fun home experiment, a physics crossword, and information on upcoming competitions and clubs, making it a resource for students across all year groups.
“We would love to welcome contributions from Perse students across all year groups. If this edition has inspired you, please do get in touch.” Elise added.
The Big Bang Bulletin can be accessed through this link. Students interested in contributing an article, whether on a physics topic they’re passionate about, or an account of physics-related work experience, can contact Elise Middleton here.
Congratulations to all students involved and we are eagerly awaiting their next edition!
