Title success: Jonny claims first Lexus British Tour victory

Recently, Year 13 student Jonny reached a major milestone in his tennis career: winning the Men’s Tier 2 finals at the Lexus British Tour 2026 in Hull.

Competing in the event as the fourth seed, Jonny navigated a challenging draw to win the tournament without dropping a single set.

The Lexus British Tour is a premier circuit for the very best of British tennis. The event is an important platform for professional players, high-level national competitors, and ‘young stars’ with ambitions of turning professional. With roughly 30 events per year, it is the same circuit that has featured past champions such as US Open winner Emma Raducanu.

Grit and Composure

Jonny’s path to the title was intense, requiring significant mental grit and physical endurance. After a solid start on Friday, he faced a gruelling Saturday schedule that included both the semi-final and the final.

The championship match was, as Jonny described it, a true test of his resilience and persistance. After falling 3-1 down in the opening set, Jonny persisted, eventually closing out the match with a 7-6, 6-1 victory.

Journey to the Pro Circuit

Following his title win, Jonny shared his perspective on the match:

“It’s my first time I’ve reached a British Tour final let alone win one without dropping a set, so I was pleased how I managed to raise my level during the match,” he said.

“Hopefully I can now progress this into lower level professional tournaments and get a professional ranking!”

As players on the Tour climb the leaderboard throughout the year, this victory provides Jonny with a fantastic foundation.

We are incredibly proud of his dedication and look forward to following his progress as he transitions toward professional-level competition.
