The Perse hosts inaugural regional 3×3 basketball tournament
The first event of its kind in the local area brought together 14 teams from six schools in a day of fast-paced basketball and outstanding sportsmanship.
The Perse’s inaugural 3×3 basketball tournament has been hailed a success after a thrilling day of competition that saw 14 teams from six schools compete in the Old Sports Hall at the Upper.
The event, believed to be the first of its kind in the region, was organised in partnership with Perse Sport and attracted girls and boys teams from a range of age groups.
“The whole event was played in a really good spirit with great displays of sportsmanship.”— Sam Patterson, tournament organiser
The final was settled by a single point win for The Perse (1st Team), with the top award going to the Sportsmanship Award winner Joseph from Oundle, and the Most Valuable Player prize going to Octave from The Perse.
Final standings:
1st The Perse (1st team)🥇
2nd Oundle🥈
3rd The Perse (3rd team)🥉
4th The Leys
The tournament is hoped to become a fixture in the regional calendar, with ambitions to expand in future years to include younger age groups and potentially separate boys’ and girls’ competitions.
We’d like to offer a special thanks to Cambridge Cats for their generous loan of sporting equipment, and The Perse Sports Centre for donating prizes for the tournament.
