Perse Green Team flagged up for illustrious environmental award

The Perse Green Team are flying the flag courtesy of their environmental efforts after earning a sought-after eco award.

Thanks to their excellent work in valuing our environment during the last academic year, the Upper has been honoured with the Eco-Schools Green Flag.

To attain the award, the Green Team had to demonstrate how they were helping make a difference at the Upper across a range of criteria from biodiversity to sustainability. In small groups, members were allocated different areas to target as they tracked their progress before producing reports on their actions.

The Green Team came together to write an ‘eco-code’, breaking down their goals into manageable steps for all Upper students to aspire to.

During the year, they held regular local litter picks, led assemblies to educate pupils on environmental topics and organised competitions to promote green issues, such as ocean pollution.

In addition, the Green Team worked closely with the staff sustainability group to help the Upper work towards its sustainability KPI targets.

Green Team Co-ordinator Natasha Cottingham said: “The Green Team worked fantastically all year and I’m so proud their determination has been recognised.

“Special mention must go to Millie(Upper Sixth), who has led the group. Her dedication and leadership made this achievement possible.”
