Perse climbers get to grips with Peak District challenge

With the sun on their backs, members of Perse Intermediate Climbing Club had the opportunity to experience rock climbing in the Peak District.
The trip began with bouldering outdoors, where the pupils learnt how to spot each other and position bouldering mats to ensure their safety, helping strengthen their teamwork and independence.
They then tried bottom roping, top roping and abseiling, as well as being introduced to the differences in practice and equipment used in outdoor climbing compared to on a climbing wall.
In the evening, pupils enjoyed a campfire and had the chance to reflect on their achievements from the day.
Perse Venture Leader Selina Rees said: “I commend the pupils for their resilience as they engaged in climbing in a new and challenging environment.”
