Perse athletes in the running for national finals

Two Perse pupils are on track for the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships following success in the regional finals at Bedford.

Hugo (Year 7) won the boys’ U13 long jump and came second in the 200m, while Eunice (Year 7) was runner-up in the girls’ U13 200m, earning them places in the national finals in Birmingham next month.

Meanwhile, Julius and Lillyane (both Year 8) made it on to the podium by coming third in the boys’ U14 800m and girls’ U14 hurdles respectively.

The 13-strong Perse team also featured George (Year 8), who narrowly missed out on a medal after qualifying for the final of the boys’ U14 200m.

Perse coach Charlie Baker said: “All the athletes performed well against tough opposition and Hugo and Eunice’s qualification for the national final is a great achievement.”
