Brilliant Base Camp for new Perse adventurers

Year 7 pupils set off on their Perse outdoor pursuits journey with an overnight PES Base Camp at the school’s Abington site.

Changeable weather saw pupils go from enjoying the sunshine to seeking shelter from the rain, but it did not dampen their spirits as they took part in a range of team building activities, as well as archery and cooking over open fires.

In the evening, Year 10 Stags and Bears (leaders) from the PES Ascent Group joined in the fun, assisting the younger pupils with making dinner and treating them to a memorable campfire experience.

Perse Head of Year 7 Ruth McCreath said: “It was wonderful to see such exceptional levels of enthusiasm, teamwork, endeavour and resilience throughout the day and evening from the Year 7 and 10 pupils involved in this year’s Base Camp. Very well done to everyone and a heartfelt thank you to the outdoor pursuits team and the Year 7 tutors.”
