Fees & Bursaries
THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE
Fees, Bursaries & Scholarships
All fees include VAT where applicable. Fees are exclusive of lunch which is optional. One term’s notice is required if children no longer wish to opt for a school lunch.
| Upper Fees | |
|---|---|
| Termly fee | £9,482 per term |
| Lunch charge | £368 per term |
| Registration fee | £240 |
| Securing and Induction fee | £840 |
The registration fee reflects the costs incurred by the school in administering the admissions process before the offer of a place is made. It is non-refundable irrespective of whether the registered child attends the entrance tests.
The securing and induction fee is payable when an offer of a place is accepted. It reflects the administration costs incurred by the school in the preparation for new pupils entering the school, including new pupil and parent induction arrangements. This fee is non-refundable.
Fees are reviewed annually and the fees for the following academic year are usually announced at the end of March.
For more information on what is included within the fees please read the download below.
Middle School Device Charge
All pupils in Years 7 to 11 are issued with a device (through nine termly usage charges, after which the student retains the device). This ensures that all students have access to an appropriate lightweight device, with a type-case keyboard, excellent digital inking, good battery life and a rubber-fitting case, which is essential for day-to-day school use.
Payment of Fees
Fees are to be paid in full by direct debit on or before the first day of each term.
At its discretion, the school offers parents the option to pay a particular term’s fees by instalment under its termly instalment scheme. No administration charges, interest or other charges are included in the termly instalment scheme. For further information, please use the link below.
The school accepts payment of fees in advance for a period of three terms or more, the actual calculation for which depends on the number of terms and the items to be included. Details may be obtained from fees@perse.co.uk.
Help with fees
If you would like to join The Perse but cannot afford our fees, then you can apply for a bursary. Our bursary awards range from 5-100% of annual fees.
We also offer additional support with the cost of school lunches and Years 7-11 school-managed device charges.
Pupils awarded higher levels of bursary support could also receive funding to help with other school related costs.
We offer bursaries for new pupils applying for entry into Year 7 and above. To apply for a bursary, you must tick the box on the registration form indicating you wish to apply for means-tested assistance with school fees.
Currently, we are providing more than £1million of bursary support to pupils.
All bursary awards are fully means-tested in accordance with the criteria published in the school’s Bursary Policy. Awards are also subject to annual review. The school uses Bursary Administration Limited to review and assess bursary applications, which includes a home visit.
The school, at its absolute discretion, may consider late bursary applications up to the date of the entrance test.
Bursary assessments are conducted independently of the academic selection process. No action taken regarding your bursary application should be considered as indicative as to whether an offer of a place at the school will be made. Take a look at our frequently asked questions.
Pupils transferring from the Prep – Upper School
Parents of pupils due to transfer from the Prep to the Upper may also apply for an entrance bursary. To do so, please email bursary-application@perse.co.uk no later than the application deadline of 1 December in the year prior to entry.
Hardship Bursaries
The Perse has limited bursary funds to provide short-term assistance to parents of Upper School pupils who have experienced an unforeseen change in their financial circumstances. Such awards are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. For more information about hardship bursary awards, please refer to the school’s Bursary Policy.
Useful Information
Scholarships
In Year 7 and 9 we award music scholarships. Perse pupils in Year 7 and Year 9 will receive an invitation to audition for a music scholarship at the end of the academic year.
This allows the music department to monitor the progress and contribution of Perse pupils over the course of Years 7 and 9, and offer awards to candidates based on the evidence of this contribution as well as their performance at an audition.
At the audition, candidates will be asked to perform at least one piece on their instrument(s), undertake short sight-reading and aural tests, and discuss their musical ambitions and interests with the Director of Music and a specialist in their first-study instrument.
Scholarship requirements
- Music scholars are expected to make a lively and committed contribution to musical activities at the Upper School. Successful scholarship candidates will be expected to demonstrate themselves as hard-working, determined and collegial in their musical pursuits and will be expected to set an outstanding and inspiring example to other pupil musicians of all ages.
- The School recognises that candidates may be at various grade levels by Year 7 and Year 9 depending on their instrumental specialism(s). Please consult the Music Department’s invitation for information regarding minimum grade standards for specific disciplines.
- It is hoped that a music scholar will receive tuition on at least one of their instruments in school.
Scholarship awards are not means-tested and are one-off payments of £500.
