Alex Coles

Alex Coles has been playing rugby since he was ten years old, representing Newmarket, Shelford and The Perse rugby clubs. While at The Perse, he was scouted by Northampton Saints and joined their Academy at the age of 13. A second-row forward, Alex played for Saints’ Under-18 side during the 2016/17 season before making his senior team debut in 2018.

Alex went on to establish himself in the Saints’ first team, making 17 appearances during the 2020/21 season. He made his senior England debut in 2022 and his Six Nations debut in 2024, the same year he helped Northampton Saints win the Gallagher Premiership title. He was also named in the Premiership Rugby Team of the Season.

In May 2025, Alex scored both of Northampton Saints’ tries in the European Rugby Champions Cup final against Bordeaux Bègles. In June 2026, he celebrated further success with Saints as they won the Gallagher Premiership title for the second time in three seasons, beating Exeter Chiefs 26–17 in the final.

Alongside his sporting career, Alex is completing a degree in Philosophy and History at Birkbeck, University of London.
