Perse Pelicans are kings and queens of the castle

Year 1 Perse Pelican children went back in time with a special trip to Mountfitchet Castle.

They have been studying castles this term and had a great time looking around the wooden motte and bailey reconstruction near Stansted.

Children explored the castle and surrounding village to gain further understanding of life in Domesday England and enjoyed making sketches of the building, as well as having a go in the stocks and trying on Norman soldiers’ helmets.
