Pupils on the run at Perse Pelican Charity Marathon

Perse Pelican pupils put their best feet forward to raise funds for worthy causes at this year’s Charity Marathon.

The young athletes warmed up in the school hall before setting off on circuits of the Pelican grounds, collecting stickers for every completed lap, before cooling down with an ice lolly at the end of their exceptional efforts.

In total, they managed an incredible 2,038 laps, equivalent to almost 10-and-a-half whole marathons while raising funds for the pupils’ chosen causes, Cambridge Global Health Partnerships and children’s mental health charity Blue Smile.

Nursery took it all in their stride to complete 235 laps (more than one marathon) and Reception children 424 laps (over two marathons), while Years 1 and finished 702 and 677 circuits (both almost four marathons) respectively.
