Smashing display by Perse Prep table tennis stars at national finals

Perse Prep table tennis players were a big hit as they won multiple medals at the IAPS (independent Association of Prep Schools) national finals at Edge Grove.

Arabella and Marianne (both Year 6) won silver and bronze respectively in the girls’ U11 competition and George (Year 6) claimed bronze in the boys’ U11 category, while Charles (Year 5) performed well in the same section.

In the girls’ tournament, Arabella won her group and went on to beat Marianne in an all-Perse Prep semi-final before losing to a very strong opponent in the final. Having finished runner-up in her pool, Marianne went on to win the third-place play-off.

Meanwhile, in a boys’ event featuring 64 players, George topped his group after winning all his matches before going on to beat Charles, who was runner-up in his pool, in the knockout stages.

George prevailed in the quarter-finals, but narrowly lost 12-10 in a deciding set in the semi-finals before going on to come from a set down to win the third-place play-off.
