Perse Green Team share ideas at Eco-Schools conference

Perse Green Team members shared their ideas and inspiration on school sustainability at the Cambridge Eco-Schools Festival.

They joined counterparts from hosts Parkside Community College, The Leys, Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology and St Bede’s Inter-Church School to discuss in groups what their schools had achieved in the process of earning Eco-Schools Green Flag status.

Topics covered included projects to boost biodiversity, reduce waste production and October’s International Walk to School Month, while representatives from Cambridge Carbon Footprint gave a talk on their work, which aims to raise awareness of climate change issues and support people in moving to low-carbon living.

Oli Peat, Perse Assistant Head (pupil Development), who accompanied the Green Team to the event, commented: “The Perse pupils were exceptional in their teamwork with the pupils from the other schools and they spoke highly of the experience, having enjoyed sharing their ideas and experiences.

“The representatives from Cambridge Carbon Footprint spoke highly of all the work schools had been achieving. The meeting finished with discussion of future events and opportunities for collaboration with schools from across the city.”
