Robin Stevens inspires Perse Prep pupils with love of mystery writing

Pupils at The Perse Prep were thrilled to welcome Robin Stevens, bestselling author of the Murder Most Unladylike series, for an inspiring and entertaining visit.

Ahead of World Book Day next week, Robin shared how her childhood experiences influenced her writing, recalling how she loved spying on adults and how her friendships helped shape the characters in her books.

Pupils had the opportunity to put their detective skills to the test, taking part in puzzles and code-breaking challenges.

Following this, pupils were encouraged to think like detectives, as she guided them through the key components of a mystery story, with setting, victim, clues, suspects and resolution all sparking plenty of creative ideas.

During an engaging Q&A session, she revealed that the favourite book she has written is Death in the Spotlight before delighting pupils by sharing her favourite ice cream flavour – blueberry!

We are grateful to Robin for her time, insights and storytelling inspiration and who knows, perhaps a future detective writer was among the audience!
