World Book Day fun at Perse Prep and Pelican

Pupils at The Perse Prep and Pelican celebrated World Book Day in style as they enjoyed visits from top children’s authors.

Children at both schools certainly got into the spirit of the occasion as they dressed up as their favourite fictional figures.

At the Pelican, each year group had a fun time taking part in puppetry and storytelling sessions with writer and illustrator Gillian McClure, based around her stories including Selkie, The Little White Sprite, Dog on Wheels and her latest book Don’t Eat Granny.

That was after Reception youngsters in Beech class wrote the first chapter on World Book Day with their fantastic assembly aboard The Good Ship Library.

Meanwhile, fantasy adventure author Nazima Pathan dropped in at the Prep to provide a special workshop to keen Year 6 writers, following on from her recent visit when she spoke to the whole school about the influences behind her debut novel Dream Hunters.
