Perse Prep hockey team claims national title

The Perse Prep boys’ U11 hockey team have been crowned national champions after winning the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) title.
After qualifying from the regional round in January, they put on an excellent display in the IAPS national finals at Framlingham College, winning every match to take the crown.
They got off to a great start by beating St Michael’s Prep School 2-1, conceding their only goal of the tournament, before defeating Bilton Grange 2-0.
The Prep team went on to finish top of their group after successive 1-0 victories over Bishop’s Stortford College and Cranleigh.
An emphatic 6-0 triumph against Dumpton School in the quarter-finals was followed by a 3-0 success over St Faith’s School in the semi-finals before the Prep prevailed 1-0 against Millfield in the final to take the honours.
Team coaches Nat Farrant and Nicky Clark said: “We are incredibly proud of what this team has achieved throughout the season. It is fantastic that all their hard work has been rewarded with a national title. They are an exceptional team and we look forward to seeing their future successes.”
