International selection and title success for Perse students

Perse students have hit the bullseye after being selected for the England squad for the annual British Schools Small-bore Rifle Association (BSSRA) Match.

Arina (Year 10), Carla and Amelie (both Lower Sixth) have been named in the England A team for the competition, where they faced opponents from the other Home Nations.

Sophie and Sophia (both Upper Sixth) have been included in the B team, while Maia (Lower Sixth) and Neve (Year 10) are in the C team.

In addition, Carla has been picked for the British Schools team for an international match against New Zealand, with Sophia named as a reserve.

Meanwhile, there was a Perse one-two at the BSSRA Senior Championships national finals with Carla claiming the title and Neve runner-up. Both posted the same incredible total of 294 out of 300, but Carla took the honours having hit a better score in the qualifying round.

Alisha (Upper Sixth) finished seventh with 292, while Arina, Danna (Year 10) and Amelie all represented The Perse after excellent performances in the qualifying round.

In the BSSRA Junior Championships national finals, Arina claimed silver after scoring an impressive 194 out of 200, and Laetitia (Year 11) and Neve (Year 10) both received bronze medals with totals of 191.

A further eight Perse students also competed in the junior finals after posting brilliant scores in the qualifying round – Emily, Harley, Hanrong (all Year 11), Yilu, Danna, Rose, Sandy and Yuhan (all Year 10).
