Views of Vienna relished by Perse Sixth Form students

Perse Sixth Form students enjoyed experiencing the sights and sounds of Vienna during the Easter break.
Artistic highlights of the trip to the Austrian capital included a visit to the Museum of Modern Art and the Leopold Museum, particularly its collection of Expressionist paintings.
Students also had the chance to look around the Secession Building, which features Gustav Klimt’s Beethoven frieze, while further world-class works by the Austrian artist were on display in the Belvedere Museum, notably The Kiss.
The group also enjoyed a walking tour of the city, learning about the Habsburg Empire, before ascending 343 steps to the top of St Stephen’s Cathedral.
A trip to Vienna would not be complete without music, as the students savoured a tour of the Mozarthaus and two evening recitals – a jazz concert at the Konzerthaus, conducted by Marin Alsop, and an uplifting performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons inside the Karlskirche.
