Perse pupils savour Summit 11 Sweden adventure

More than 60 Perse students participated in this year’s PES Summit 11 canoeing expedition in Sweden.
They paddled in groups between the islands of the incredible Stora Le lake, honing their paddling techniques and strengthening their teamwork along the way.
Students also collaborated to cook all their meals over open fires and set up camp on the lake’s islands.
Between journeys, pupils had the chance to learn fire-making by friction, practise their carving skills, and try their hand at fishing, with their perseverance and autonomy shining through in these activities.
Other highlights of the expedition included the famous rock jump at Skotton, spoon carving and baking cinnamon buns.
Perse Director of Outdoor Education Ben Parker, who led the adventure, said: “The students demonstrated excellent independence and determination on the expedition.”
