Old Persean selected for England Rugby team

We are incredibly proud to share that Alumnus Alex Coles, who left the Perse in 2018, was selected to start for the England national rugby union team in their final Autumn Test match. Alex took the field alongside his club teammates from Northampton Saints, who also earned places in the national squad.
Our Head of Rugby, Mr Simon Thomas said, “We would like to congratulate Alex on his latest selection for England. He is an outstanding role model for every rugby player at the Perse, exemplifying what can be achieved through a blend of talent and our school value of endeavour. His ability to combine academic excellence with elite sporting performance during his time at The Perse sets a remarkable standard for all our aspiring athletes.”
Alex’s achievements are reflective of his outstanding school sporting journey at The Perse, where he benefitted from exceptional opportunities in strength and conditioning, coaching, mentoring, and playing a wide range of sports at a high level before later specialising in rugby. His selection displays the high quality of dedication, talent and sportspersonship that we encourage at our school.
We congratulate Alex on this remarkable milestone and wish him every success in representing his country. His achievement demonstrates our ethos of nurturing young people to reach national and even global standards.
