The Schools’ Challenge is a nationwide quiz competition that tests students’ knowledge, speed on the buzzer and ability to work as a team across a wide range of academic subjects. Schools compete through regional rounds to reach the national finals, where the strongest teams from across the country go head to head.

Our Year 8 team travelled to Hampton School for this year’s national finals day and rose brilliantly to the occasion. Their first round was the quarter final against Haberdasher’s School. It was a closely contested match early on, but The Perse team pulled away to secure a strong 780 to 460 victory.

This win set up a semi final against MCS, Oxford. From the outset, the team showed confidence and control, dominating the match and achieving the highest score of the day with an impressive 900 to 370 win.

In the final, they faced KEGS, Chelmsford, another high scoring team. Once again, The Perse showed their strength, taking the title with a 690 to 390 victory.

This result marks a remarkable fourth consecutive national title for The Perse Junior team, as well as the School’s eleventh overall win in the competition.

The team of Jackie, Buddhan, Finn and Steven demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout. Together, they communicated well, supported one another and maintained a composed and focused approach.

Congratulations to the team on an outstanding achievement.
