Perse pupils celebrate highest ever GCSE results

Perse students have achieved the School’s strongest GCSE results to date, with 59% of entries being graded at 9, 83% at 8 or 9, and 95% at 7-9.

By comparison, UK national GCSE data for 2026 shows that just 5% of entries were graded 9, 12.3% were graded 8 or 9, and 21.8% were graded 7-9.

We’re delighted to announce that 25 Perse students achieved a clean sweep of 9 grades in all of their GCSEs.  An impressive 45% of the cohort (88 students) secured all 8 and 9 grades.

Just under three quarters of the year group (146 students) achieved all grades 7-9, which is the equivalent of A*-A under the previous grading system.

Perse students achieved the top marks nationally in OCR GCSE Geography, OCR GCSE Music and OCR GCSE Ancient History.

Principal and Head of the Upper School, Ed Elliott commented:

“I am delighted that the talents and hard work of our GCSE students have been recognised in these record-breaking results.  It is wonderful to see so many students achieving at such high levels, and I congratulate the students and their teachers on these excellent outcomes”.

The Perse only enters students for GCSEs which (unlike IGCSEs) are Ofqual regulated and approved by the Department of Education.
