Why study Drama at The Perse?

Drama develops confident communicators, creative thinkers and collaborative problem-solvers. Through performance, directing and theatre-making, pupils learn to express ideas with clarity, empathy and imagination while developing the confidence to speak, perform and lead – skills that are increasingly valuable in a rapidly changing world.

Learning through performance

Drama is an active and creative subject where pupils learn by doing. Lessons combine practical performance with reflection and analysis, encouraging pupils to experiment, collaborate and think imaginatively. As they develop their acting, directing and technical theatre skills, they also build resilience, adaptability and the confidence to communicate effectively in a wide range of situations.

Beyond the classroom

The Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre provides exceptional opportunities for pupils to perform, direct and work behind the scenes. Alongside an ambitious programme of productions, pupils can take part in the English-Speaking Union’s Performing Shakespeare competition, gain Trinity College Drama qualifications, attend professional theatre productions and develop technical theatre skills through specialist backstage training. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, every pupil can find their place within the Drama department.
