Perse students prepare to bring The Wizard of Oz to life

This year’s Lower School production of The Wizard of Oz is set to be one of the most ambitious to date, involving a remarkable 110 pupils working across performance and technical roles.

The Lower School production of The Wizard of Oz follows Dorothy, Toto and the companions she meets along the way as she ventures through Oz in search of the Wizard. Bringing the magic of this much-loved classic to life, the show features a talented young cast, colourful costumes and a host of memorable songs.

At the heart of the project is a strong sense of collaboration. By running three full casts, more students are able to take on principal roles and gain valuable experience performing on stage. Alongside them, the two technical teams play an equally vital role in shaping the production, leading on lighting, sound, stage management and design to ensure each performance runs seamlessly.

David Barrett, Director of Theatre, says “There’s a real buzz around this show. The students are having a brilliant time, but they’re also putting in a lot of hard work to bring it all together. As ever we’re aiming high and trying to raise the bar and the students are rising to the challenge. It’s amazing to see the confidence and skills growing along the way.”

Performances will take place from Wednesday 24 to Saturday 27 June 2026 at the Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre.

Tickets are now available and can be booked here.
