National finals await Perse Prep football team

The Perse Prep boys’ U11 football team are heading to the Independent Schools FA (ISFA) national finals after clinching the regional title.
They will travel to St George’s Park – the training centre for England’s football squads – in May for the ISFA finals after winning the East qualifiers in style at Porson Road Playing Fields.
Played in a league format, the Prep prevailed in all six of their matches at the tournament, scoring 21 goals and only conceding two.
The boys edged out Finborough School 2-1 in their opening game and never looked back.
Successive 2-0 victories followed against Dame Bradbury’s Junior School and St Edmund’s College.
They went on to beat Broughton Manor Prep School 4-0 and Heath Mount School 4-1 before finishing with a flourish with a 7-0 victory over Kimbolton School.
This success follows on from winning the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) Regional Plate at Bishop’s Stortford College last week.
Prep Director of Sport Dan Nicholes said: “Myself and Mr Butler were so proud of how the boys performed on the day. The team were a credit to the Prep and did the school extremely proud.
“The Pelicans played some scintillating football and showed grit and character, where necessary, to dig in when the games got tough.
“We are very proud of the boys and can’t wait to observe their progress at the National Finals at St George’s Park.”
