Inspiration Week sparks excitement at The Perse Prep

From building eco cities to launching rockets, pupils were given a taste of a wide range of exciting activities during Perse Prep Inspiration Week.
Year 3 visited Shepreth Wildlife Park and Cambridge University Botanic Garden to find out more about all the amazing fauna and flora on show, while a brilliant time was had by Year 4 as they tried out the assault course at The Playground in Waterbeach.
Pupils in Year 5 got worldly wise with a Geography Day at the Upper, which included picking up map reading skills, an orienteering challenge and a geographical general knowledge quiz.
They also took a dramatic turn with the sensational Centre Stage production of Noir, written by Prep Assistant Head Tobias Bown, with music and lyrics by Director of Music Paul Harris.
Year 6 pupils expanded their scientific knowledge with inspiring trips to the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, the Museum of Zoology and the Whipple Museum.

Throughout the week, it was all systems go for each year group as they designed their own rockets before blasting off from the Leighton Lawn launchpad.
Meanwhile, children were inspired by talks and workshops from experts across a range of fields from particle physics and poetry to anatomy and ultra-marathon running.
Inspiration Week was rounded off with ‘town mayor,’ aka Head James Piper, cutting the ribbon to unveil Perseville, a model ‘eco village’ brought together in the school hall, featuring a construction made by every child at the Prep, whether an eco building, a wind turbine, a seed house or a playground.
It was then time for pupils to put their best foot forward for the Prep’s annual Sports Day, a fun finale to the week’s events.
