MORE THAN A LEVELS

Outdoor Education

Welcome to the Perse Outdoor Education Department. Our aim is to provide Perse students with world-class standards of extra-curricular opportunity with a specific focus on developing transferable skills for later life.

Outdoor education is delivered at our state-of-the-art climbing wall, outdoor education centre, and rifle range. Full time qualified and experienced staff deliver the programme with the support of teaching staff and volunteers.

Sixth form pupils have access to a wide range of outdoor education provision. This includes climbing and target rifle shooting as a games option and two Perse Exploration Society (PES) groups. The PES Summit 12 group undertakes high altitude expeditions to venues including India, Bolivia, Morocco and the PES Peak Gold group undertakes the DofE Gold award qualifying expedition in the Italian Alps.

There are also many opportunities to volunteer and lead through our PES Volunteering programme, where sixth form support younger pupils on expeditions and in training sessions.

Have a passion for climbing, archery, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding or target rifle shooting? There are a range of discipline specific extra-curricular groups that develop your interest in a fun and social environment.

Looking to gain qualifications and personal confidence? Look no further than the Instructor Development Scheme and National Indoor Climbing Association Scheme (NICAS) climbing courses. The outdoor education department delivers both schemes and operates across multiple award levels.
