Structure |
There is a strong focus on leadership in this group. The group is divided into groups known as 'Fires' which are headed by student 'Fire Leaders'. |
Skills developed |
The aim of this group is to develop students' teamwork skills, in preparation for a five-day race from the Welsh coast to the summit of Snowdon mountain. Students learn about mountain biking, canoeing, climbing, trekking and navigation in preparation for their race event. |
Meetings |
Weekly meetings are held after school on Tuesdays between 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Here students learn all the skills required for the various trips throughout the year. |
Trips |
Each year, Summit 10 completes two trips: a training weekend and the summer expedition to Wales. The training weekend takes place in the Peak District, where the students develop their canoeing, mountain biking and rekking skills. The year culminates in a five day race in the Snowdonia National Park. |
