Choose your adventure
While the School’s academic credentials are well-established, prospective pupils and their parents can be surprised to discover the exciting extra-curricular opportunities also on offer.
Pupils choose from many options in art, music, drama, dance, sport, outdoor pursuits and a vibrant programme of clubs and societies. Whether they are cultivating a particular talent and competing against the best or simply taking part for fun, the activities that pupils enjoy beyond the classroom help create the buzz of daily life at The Perse.
Through their involvement in extra-curricular activities, pupils become more rounded and gain a sense of perspective about their academic studies. Helping pupils develop ‘breadth and balance’ is one of the Perse Values, and we encourage children to take full advantage of the opportunities available, get involved and make commitments. Quality time spent on the pitch, stage, trail and in the studio helps students develop self-confidence, organisation and resilience and, more often than not, interests for life.
We currently offer more than 100 clubs and societies, from Bridge to sewing, robotics to music, and literature to ecology, in addition to 70+ music ensembles and more than 150 sports teams. We take full advantage of our Cambridge location: our 42 society programme of lunchtime lectures from leading experts in academia, the arts and the business world would rival the speaker programmes of many universities.
Students can choose from a wide range of exchanges, including language exchanges in Germany, France and Spain, and cultural exchanges in Australia, Japan, Singapore and the USA.
One of our most popular extra-curricular options is the Perse Exploration Society: more than 400 students enjoy the many forms its adventures take with expeditions both in the UK and overseas.
