The school has always done its best to ensure that children who would benefit from a Perse education are not excluded for financial reasons. In the current financial year, we provide over £1 million of bursary support.
All bursary awards are fully means-tested in accordance with the criteria published in the school’s Bursary Policy. Awards are also subject to annual review. They range from 5% to 100% of annual fees and may be varied upwards or downwards year on year, depending on changes to parental circumstances and financial information provided at each review.
The school uses Bursary Administration Limited to review and assess bursary applications. This will include a home visit which will, of necessity be arranged at short notice. Bursary Administration Limited will contact you directly by email or telephone to arrange the visit so it is important that you provide accurate contact information when completing your bursary application.
Entrance Bursaries for the Upper School
The school offers a number of bursaries for new pupils applying for entry into Year 7 and above. To apply for a bursary, you must tick the box on the registration form indicating you wish to apply for means-tested assistance with school fees. The school, at its absolute discretion, may consider late bursary applications up to the date of the particular entrance examination.
Parents of pupils due to transfer from the Prep School to the Upper School may also apply for an Upper School entrance bursary. To do so, they must email bursary-application@perse.co.uk no later than the application deadline of 1 December in the year prior to entry.
Bursary assessments are conducted independently of the academic selection process. No action taken regarding your bursary application should be considered as indicative as to whether an offer of a place at the school will be made.
Emergency Bursaries
The Perse has limited bursary funds to provide short term assistance to parents of Upper School pupils who have experienced an unforeseen change in their financial circumstances. Such awards are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. For more information about emergency bursary awards please refer to the school’s Bursary Policy.
Details of specific assistance for families who experience a change in their circumstances resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic are contained in the appendix of the policy.
