The School has its roots in benefaction and we remain committed to our founder’s vision – to realise the talent of future generations by providing an excellent education to children of all backgrounds. Thanks to our Bursary Fund of around £1m per annum, 120 children whose families would not otherwise be able to afford a Perse education receive means-tested financial assistance to study here. We are proud to be supporting these students, but we aim to do more: our vision is to double that number through our fundraising campaign.
Our means-tested bursaries for families of limited means are available for children from Year 7 onwards. Financial support ranges from 5% to 100% of annual fees.
- School fees per term – £5,998
- School fees per year – £17,994
Fees are exclusive of lunch. Lunch is compulsory in Years 7 and 8, but thereafter students can opt to bring a packed lunch. Lunch is £281 per term.
- Registration Fee: £150 for Years 7 to Sixth Form and £500 for Sixth Form Tier 4 applicants
- Securing and Induction Fee: £595 for Years 7 to Sixth Form, £750 for non-UK, EU, EEA applicants and £1,500 for Sixth Form Tier 4 applicants
The registration fee reflects the costs incurred by the School in administering the admissions process before the offer of a place is made and is non-refundable irrespective of whether or not the registered child actually attends the entrance tests.
The securing and induction fee is payable when an offer of a place is accepted and reflects the administration costs incurred by the School in the preparation for new pupils entering the School including new pupil and parent induction arrangements. This fee is non-refundable.
Fees are reviewed annually and the fees for the following year are usually announced at the end of March.
The Perse has always done its best to ensure that children who would benefit from an education at the School are not excluded for financial reasons. We offer a number of means-tested bursaries for families of limited means from Year 7 onwards. Financial support ranges from 5% to 100% of annual fees. In the current financial year, we provide over £1 million of means-tested bursary support.
How to apply for assistance with fees
Applicants requesting a bursary are subject to the standard assessment criteria that form part of the entrance process. Places are only offered to applicants who meet the admissions criteria.
The School has appointed an independent company, Bursary Administration Limited, to undertake bursary assessments on its behalf. All applications for bursary places are assessed on a means-tested basis and include a visit to the family home of successful candidates to help gain an understanding of the family situation and calculate the financial need of the family on an individual basis. Assessments take into account your family situation, including the financial circumstances of both parents and of any current partner of one or both parents, along with social security benefits and other financial details. These will include both capital and current income. All bursary awards made are subject to annual means-testing thereafter.
The number of awards which we can make each year are limited, and due to budgetary constraints, it is possible that not every eligible application for a bursary will result in an offer of financial assistance from the School. All awards are made at the absolute discretion of the School.
If you would like to apply for assistance with fees please complete and return the registration form and registration fee to the Admissions Office before the registration deadline in the year prior to entry. Please ensure that you tick the box on the Registration Form which indicates that you are applying for ‘means-tested assistance with school fees’. The Bursary will contact you directly. It may be helpful to know that the Bursary will need a detailed means-test form to be completed and returned to Bursary Administration Limited before your child’s entrance test, so that they are able to advise the amount of financial support you will receive before you need to take a decision on any offer of a place.
