Nicky is a PE and Games teacher at The Perse and has experience teaching a range of different gymnastic activities. She has taught gymnastics to a range of ages and abilities and ensures activities are safe, but allow pupils to learn and be challenged.
Charlie graduated from the University of Bristol with an honours degree in drama: theatre, film and television in 2008. Since then she has worked with numerous drama groups – directing and taking shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, using drama to support adults with disabilities and working with young people in schools to inspire a wealth of performances. In 2010 she completed a PGCE at the University of Cambridge. Since then she has taught in mainstream and special schools in Cambridgeshire. She believes that the best learning takes place when children are actively immersed in the subject matter – something that is of great importance when studying theatre and the performing arts!
Tobias is Assistant Head (Academic) and Head of Drama at the Prep. He graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Education Studies with English from the University of Cambridge and then completed a PGCE there the following year. Tobias is a passionate English teacher, with specific expertise in Shakespeare, children’s literature and creative writing. Alongside teaching, Tobias is interested in the media and worked at BBC Radio Suffolk as a Broadcast Assistant during his A level and university years. He is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading and writing in students of all ages.
Mark has been at The Perse for three years following a successful career in the Royal Anglian Regiment, British Army. He is a very experienced outdoors pursuits leader having been on numerous UK and International expeditions with the School’s outdoor pursuits programme. His huge skill set ranges from survival skills to expedition medicine and he has a wealth of experience of surviving in the wilderness.
Candida is currently at the Royal Shakespeare Company and is a highly experienced youth theatre practitioner, currently working on a production for the National Youth Music Theatre.
Susannah has a degree in politics and history and has taught history for 10 years. She has also taught politics at A level and run Model United Nations (MUN) societies at two schools including attending and running MUN conferences. She has had a keen interest in current affairs since she was at school where she also took part in MUN.
Danielle obtained a degree in biology and psychology from the University of Bristol and has been teaching at The Perse for the past six years. Danielle is a keen cook and has attended several Cambridge Cookery School courses herself as well as teaching cooking at The Perse Summer School.
Robert is an actor, singer and musician. He trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His recent credits include The Secret Garden at the King’s Head Theatre and Greenwich Theatre, London and the national UK tour of Save the Last Dance for Me.
Charlotte has a degree in classics from the University of Cambridge and is a qualified teacher. She has taught Latin, Greek and classical civilisation to A level at The Perse and has previously taught at King Edward VI Five Ways School in Birmingham.
Jaime is Head of Girls’ Cricket at the Prep. She oversaw the introduction of the sport for girls two years ago and is passionate about bringing it to as many children as possible.
Hannah played hockey and tennis at Durham University, captaining the tennis team for Hatfield College. She has run ive half marathons and the 2014 London Marathon, and plays in a local netball league. She has a level 1 qualification in netball and hockey and currently coaches hockey, netball and tennis at the Perse Upper.
Julie has a degree in fine art specialising in painting and print. She also has a Master’s in children’s book illustration, and has exhibited pieces of work in various galleries around the country. She is a qualified teacher with 17 years of experience.
Charles has been a professional tennis coach since 1997. He has coached at Cambridge L.T.C (1997-2002), Hills Road Tennis Centre (1999 to date) and Cocks and Hens L.T.C (2011 to date). He has been the Perse Upper School coach since 2011. Charles has been Professional Tennis Registry qualified since May 1997 and an Annual PTR conference attendee since 2006 at Hilton Head, South Carolina, USA.
Ross is a England Hockey Level 2 Coach. He is a current member of staff at The Perse School where he supports the development of players and teams across all age groups. Ross has coached at Cambridge City Hockey Club for the past five years where he has managed to gain promotion into the national league with the ladies’ first team. He has also supported the development of a number of junior players who have gone on to represent international teams. Ross is a very experienced hockey player who is a current member of Cambridge City Hockey Club where he is the captain of the men’s first team who play in the England Hockey National league. Prior to playing for Cambridge City, Ross played for Cannock Hockey Club for eight years in both European competition and in the premier league. He has also represented England at a number of different age groups including under 16, 18, 21 and A.
Helen is a games teacher and strength and conditioning coach at The Perse. She holds a level 2 trampoline coaching qualification and has experience in both coaching and competing. Helen regularly coaches a range of ages and abilities for Cambridge Cangaroos.
Abigail obtained a degree in pre-clinical medical studies from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and studied medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital before beginning teaching at The Perse in September 2014.
Ravi teaches PE and games at The Perse Upper and is Assistant Head of Hockey and Head of Football. He is a level 2 cricket and hockey coach, and coaches Cambridgeshire County U14 and U17 teams and plays cricket for Foxton in the Cambridge Tucker 1 League.
Nikki is a professional dancer, actress, singer and model. She recently graduated from a full scholarship place at Bodywork in Cambridge and is pursuing her career in London where she has had plenty of experience on stage and screen.
Daniel is Head of PE, boys’ cricket and football at the Prep. He is a professional sports coach with qualifications in football, cricket, rugby, netball and gymnastics. He is an enthusiastic sportsman who is passionate about making sport fun and accessible for all children.
All Outspoken instructors are enthusiastic about cycling and are keen to promote all forms of cycling. To become qualified, professional National Standard instructors have been through an extensive training programme which is the only accredited training approved by The Department for Transport. They have a wealth of experience coaching in schools on a weekly basis delivering fun and engaging cycling related activities helping children develop their skills and confidence to support them riding more.
James has a degree in mathematics and philosophy from Durham University, qualified as a teacher from King’s College London, and then completed a Master’s in philosophy from Birkbeck College, London. He enjoys playing chess and ran the Chess club for four years at Whitgift School, and since September 2014 at The Perse. He has also competed at county level a number of times.
Peter has a BA and MA in American studies from the University of Nottingham. An experienced teacher of history and politics, he joined The Perse in September 2013. His MA dissertation was on Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programme.
As a player coach Clinton competed in local and national league fixtures for Ipswich and Colchester basketball clubs and while serving with Colchester basketball club he represented England against Harvard University. Coach Wedderburn is the junior head coach of Cambridge Cats basketball club and has spent 17 years working with and developing junior players and teams to play in the Basketball England National League. He worked with and developed players to a National league, and over the last three years (2013/14/15) Coach Wedderburn has guided three Cambridge Cats players into the England National under 17and under 18 basketball Squads. Coach Wedderburn is employed as a basketball and athletics coach at The Perse Upper.
Redvers double majored in history and classics at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch New Zealand, studying a broad range of history, ancient history and intellectual history. He teaches history, ancient history and classical studies at The Perse.
Keith obtained a degree in electro-mechanical engineering from Loughborough University and worked in many engineering fields from oilfield exploration to robotics before teaching at The Perse, leading the Design and Technology Department for the past six years. Keith enjoys practical engineering from wood-work to electronics and control technology.
Mandy has a degree in 3D design: ceramics and is an experienced teacher of art and A level moderator. Prior to joining The Perse, Mandy taught digital photography at GCSE and AS level.
Andrew (Woody) has assisted with the School’s outdoor pursuits programme for a number of years, attending several UK based camps, expeditions to Sweden and recently travelling to Ladakh with the Sixth Form international expedition group for three weeks. As well as experience of surviving in the wilderness, Woody has a particular passion for cooking in the outdoors and utilising the resources available in the wild.
