Taking part in clubs can really enrich a child’s experience of school. They make new friends, discover different interests, develop confidence, learn about commitment and get an opportunity to put into practice the skills and knowledge they are developing in lessons.
We offer more than 70 lunchtime and after-school clubs, some run by Perse staff and some by external instructors. Some clubs run all year, others change on a termly basis to ensure there is something for the widest possible range of interests. There is even a Friday lunchtime disco!
Here is a small flavour of clubs on offer:
Perse Prep Paper: contribute articles, reviews or puzzles to the termly newspaper.
Gardening club: take care of the plant’s in School’s science garden and learn about growing and cooking vegetables.
Chess club: for all levels of ability. Prep pupils can take part in the Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge.
Prep Outdoor Pursuits: get involved in a wide variety of outdoor activities at the Prep and further afield including wide games, outdoor cooking and orienteering, and prepare for a weekend camp in the summer term.
Code club: learn Scratch programming and design and create computer games.
Sports clubs: each term a wide variety of specific sports clubs are available.
While attendance at clubs is voluntary, we encourage everyone to commit to at least one club. Likewise, children need to learn not to over-commit, so we do not advise joining more than two school clubs in Years 3 and 4 and more than three in Years 5 and 6.
