The Perse School

Admissions

A warm welcome awaits

Overview

Year 3 is the main entry point for the Prep, when up to 30 external applicants join pupils progressing from the Pelican Nursery and Pre-Prep.

Places are generally only available in Years 4 and 6 if current pupils give notice to leave during the course of the academic year. There are usually around three spaces available in Year 5. We hold entrance testing for these year groups in the January prior to entry.

We offer means-tested financial assistance with fees to those families who could not otherwise afford a Perse education. The level of assistance may vary in value from 5% to 100% of annual fees, and is dependent on the financial circumstances of the parents.

Below is an overview of the process with links to more information. We encourage you to take full advantage of tours, taster sessions and open days to find out as much as you can about whether the Prep is right for you.

Any time

The Head is very happy to show you around during term-time, so that you can get a feel for the School on a normal working day. Contact us to book a tour.

May

Visit the Prep on our summer Open Morning - a normal school day.

June

Our Activity Morning is for children who are in Year 1 to have fun at the Prep, with activities such as art, music, cookery, PE games and drama.

October

Our main Open Morning happens on a Saturday early in October. There is no need to book - the more the merrier.

November in the year before entry

We hold a Taster Morning for children in Year 2. It's a great opportunity for them to get to know the Prep, and they work in groups to sample science, PE, art, music and drama. Parents can chat to staff.

December in the year before entry

The deadline for applying for a place falls in mid December in the year prior to entry. We will seek a reference from your child's current school and invite them to our assessments, held in January.

January

Assessment takes place in January, and we usually let you know the same month whether we can offer your child a place.

Joining us

There is a full familiarisation and induction programme for children joining us, and their parents.
