The Perse School

Admissions

A warm welcome awaits

Overview

There are two key entry points into the Pelican: Nursery and Reception. Each year, around 32 children join us in Nursery, our main entry point. In Reception, around eight external applicants will join children progressing from Nursery. Occasionally vacancies arise in Year 1 and Year 2 and we hold a waiting list of children who would like to be considered for a place should one become available.

It is usual for children to enter at the start of the academic year for which they qualify. Nursery Year children must be three years old on or before 1 September in the year of entry; Reception Year children must be four years old on or before 1 September in the year of entry.

Before applying, we encourage you to visit the School. We hold open mornings in both the Michaelmas term in the autumn and during the Summer term, usually in May. We also hold tours during term-time, so that you can get a feel for the School on a normal working day.

If you feel The Perse is the right school for your child, the next step is to apply for a place before the relevant deadline. Once we have received your application, we will seek a confidential reference from your child’s current nursery, and invite them into school for their playgroup and assessment sessions.

Below is an overview of the process with links to more information.

Any time

The Head is very happy to show you around during term-time, so that you can get a feel for the School on a normal working day. Contact us to book a tour.
