Terrific T20 Cup run for Perse cricket team

The Perse girls’ U15 cricket team enjoyed a successful season after reaching the quarter-finals of the School Sport Magazine National T20 Cup.

Their route to the last eight in the prestigious competition saw them defeat Bedford Modern School by 49 runs and Haileybury by 10 wickets in back-to-back matches on the same day before earning an eight-wicket win away to King’s Worcester.

In the quarter-finals they faced The Leys, who batted first and posted a total of 132 for 5 with Perse captain Alexandra Goodricke taking 2 for 17 and Lillian Munns 2 for 23.

With the bat Olivia Kaser scored 42 and Stuthi Kambli 21, but The Perse fell just short by 10 runs after finishing with 122 for 8 in reply.

Team coach Catherine Henderson was delighted with the team’s progress after making it to the national quarter-finals.

She added: “They have improved so much over the past two years, both as a team and individually as cricketers.”
