Barcelona tour is big hit with Perse hockey teams

The Perse boys’ U15 and U14 hockey teams experienced the game Spanish-style during their brilliant Barcelona tour.

They played a series of matches against local clubs, starting with fixtures against Linia 22, with the U14 side winning 4-1 and the U15 team losing 5-2.

Against Iluro, the Perse U15 and U14 sides claimed respective 3-1 and 3-0 victories, before facing Barcelona where they were beaten 1-0 and 4-3 respectively.

The fixtures ended on a high note with both Perse teams winning 4-0 against their counterparts from CD Terrassa.

Away from the pitch, the group enjoyed a walking tour of the city, exploring the old town and Las Ramblas areas, as well as visiting the Olympic Stadium and FC Barcelona Museum and having a go at padel – a popular form of tennis in Spain played on small, enclosed courts.

Perse Head of Hockey Ross Hayward, who led the trip, said: “The players got a lot out of the tour, such as playing a different style of hockey, being away as a group and experiencing a different culture.”
