Perse performers make a song and dance at Charity Cabaret

Talented Perse singers and musicians provided an excellent evening of entertainment at the school’s annual Charity Cabaret.

A sensational show featuring wonderful Perse performers captivated the audience as the Main Hall was transformed into an elegant nightspot.

With Sorcha Brickel, Katie Richards and Toby Westcott (all Upper Sixth) doing an exceptional job on compering duties, a wide variety of performances by soloists, duos and groups featured in the concert.

From BandSoc and the Rock Ensemble playing electrifying guitar classics to stripped-down piano and vocal versions of hits by the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse, there was something to suit all musical tastes.

There was even an inspired instrumental cover of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal played on cello by Cordelia Bargh (Upper Sixth) and Paloma Bargh (Year 11).

Meanwhile, the Perse Big Band lent their powerful sound to a range of popular favourites, such as Valerie and Skyfall.

In traditional fashion, the event was rounded off with a fun-filled dance finale by the Senior Prefects.

The event raised more than £1,100 for Brain Tumour Research, and thanks go to the following businesses for supplying raffle prizes – Wells & Co, Tiffin Truck, Aromi, Cambridge Fudge Kitchen, Scudamore’s Punting, the Red Lion Inn Hinxton, the Black Bull Inn Balsham, Thorne Wines, Knoops and Tom’s Trunks.
