Golden record for Perse students in physics olympiad

A record number of Perse students have achieved the Gold standard in round one of this year’s British Physics Olympiad (BPhO).

Alexander Deacon and Shirley Meng (both Upper Sixth) were among just over 180 students from across the country who attained the highest level of Top Gold from a field of more than 3,100 entrants.

Following on from this, Alexander has earned a place in round two of BPhO and the British Astronomy & Astrophysics Olympiad next month.

Meanwhile, an astounding 15 Perse students received Gold awards – the highest total in a single year – including William Stoeber, Mickey Yung, Dominic Rogers, Gabriel Cirstea, Natalie Ronco, Mabel Symes, Kin Hei Chan, Jack Fan, Alexander Hsieh, Daniel Myhill, Max Jarvis, Alina Turchyn (all Upper Sixth), Neelkantha Mukherjee, Tom Hammond and Marcus Collins (all Lower Sixth), putting then in the top 105 of entrants nationally.

In addition, Perse students achieved five Silvers, 20 Bronzes and two commendations.
