Perse Prep football team kick on to national finals

The Perse Prep boys’ U11 football team have got a kick out of winning the ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association) regional finals.
Thanks to their success, they will travel to the England football squad’s training facilities of St George’s Park at Burton for the ISFA national finals next May.
Playing on home soil at Porson Road, the boys got off to a great start with a 5-0 win over the Stephen Perse Foundation and went on to top their group with 1-0 victories against Heath Mount School and Dame Bradbury’s School.
They went on to beat Broughton Manor Prep School 6-0 in the quarter-finals and Kimbolton School 1-0 in the semi-finals before facing Heath Mount again in a nail-biting final, edging out their opponents 2-1 after extra time to take the East title.
Perse Prep Head of PE Dan Nicholes, who coached the side, said: “The whole squad played some superb football and were doggedly determined throughout. The team look forward to building on this success and will relish the opportunity to participate in the national finals at St George’s Park.”
This success followed on from the team reaching the quarter-finals of the Independent Association of Prep Schools regional finals at Fairfield Prep School.
