Success for Perse Prep quiz team in national finals
A team of Perse Prep pupils showed a gist for general knowledge by coming third at the Quiz Club national finals.
Featuring a member from each year group – Shashwat (Year 3), Annaliese (Year 4), Steven (Year 5) and Eunice (Year 6) – the team reached the finals at Oxford University after coming through a regional round at St Faith’s School and an online semi-final.
They were one of 40 teams taking part in the national finals – whittled down from 832 teams from 503 schools – with each team member voting for their answer from a series of multiple-choice questions.
Prep Head of Geography Will Bidwell, who co-ordinates the school’s own Quiz Club, was thrilled with how well the team fared.
He said: “They were amazing. There’s a lot of pressure with 160 children taking part and they led for much of the competition, but it was incredible how they stayed so calm and worked so well as a team.”
