Prestigious green award flagged up at Perse Prep

The Perse Prep is flying the flag for planet protection after being awarded a prestigious environmental accolade.

For their commitment to valuing our environment, the Prep has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag.

To achieve the Green Flag, the Prep had to demonstrate its engagement in certain areas, such as biodiversity and energy and waste reduction, and how it was working towards tangible goals.

Pupils have played their part by helping to create a wildflower area, which can also provide a habitat for bugs and small animals.

A team of youngsters also formed an ‘Eco Board’ with Prep Eco-Schools co-ordinator Jules Reston, meeting fortnightly to discuss issues and get things done, while a termly GreenCast podcast has been launched to inform the school community about the project.

Mr Reston said: “We were all very proud of achieving the hard-earned reward and it’s great to see the Green Flag, made from recycled bottles, flying proudly from our flagpole.

“We look forward to next year’s application and seeing what we can do to further protect our planet.”
