Perse pupils rewarded at classical reading competition

Perse pupils staged a dramatic display to claim success in the Cambridge Classical Association Junior Reading Competition.

Jo Zhou (Year 8) was runner-up in the Latin prose category and she was also part of the team featuring Zoe Khaliq, Naomi Hoare, Margo Beznosyuk, Sophie Ramsden and Edward Samson (all Year 8) that came second in the Latin dramatic reading section.

Thomas Welchman (Year 9) was highly commended in the Greek prose class, while Ellie Skordos (Year 9) also performed well in the competition.

Perse Head of Classics Seb Foster said: “Reading or acting out a passage of Latin or Greek as fluently as they did in front of a big audience was an impressive achievement. Everyone was so committed and creative and I really enjoyed all their performances.”
