Historic national title for Perse Prep hockey team

The Perse Prep boys’ U11 hockey team have made history as the first team from the school to be crowned IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) national champions.

They got off to a great start in the finals at Repton School with wins over The Elms (3-0), New College Oxford (6-0) and Great Walstead School (3-1). A 1-1 draw with Solihull ensured the boys finished top of their pool.

In the quarter-finals, they beat Woodbridge School 2-0 before seeing off Dean Close School 1-0 in the semi-finals with their most complete performance of the tournament.

The Perse met St Faith’s School in the final and avenged a golden goal defeat to their Cambridge rivals in 2019 with a 2-0 victory to secure the title.

Including the qualifying round, this exceptional achievement featured 15 wins and one draw, with 37 goals scored and just two conceded.

Squad: Archie B, Henry B, Ollie D-G, Zak K, Hugo L, Beau M-M, Toby R, Oli T.
