Smashing performances from Perse badminton teams

Alexander Hsieh (Lower Sixth) and Lauren Tse (Upper Sixth) reflect on the fortunes of the Perse mixed U18 A and B badminton teams in the Cambridge University College League during the Michaelmas term.

The Perse badminton teams demonstrated their hard work in training in their first matches of the season, with the A team securing a convincing 5-2 victory over a strong Pembroke College side and the B team putting up a spirited fight against Christ’s College.

Next came notable performances by both sides with the A team earning a deserved 6-1 win over former Division One side Magdalene College and the B team a 5-2 triumph against Girton.

The A team continued their season with hard-fought victories and the B team resiliently battled against more strong teams.

Unfortunate losses marked the end of the season for both sides, but the A and B teams placed an impressive second and fifth respectively in their divisions, providing the A team with a potential promotion to the top tier.

Looking forward to next season, the team captains hope to improve training to produce more strong performances and better the standard of badminton within the school.
