Perse students tackle tough conditions in Lake District expedition

Perse Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Gold Award students experienced testing conditions in their Lake District practice expedition.

Extremely poor weather provided the perfect opportunity for the Lower Sixth students to learn important skills such as navigation, bag packing and tent pitching.

The rain persisted throughout the weekend, but that did not stop groups from keeping their spirits high and enjoying their time together as they explored Loughrigg Fell, Ambleside and Coniston.

Perse DofE manager Thomas Cranmer said: “Even when choosing the right route became a struggle, the groups of students were described by members of the public as ‘beautifully polite’. I am extremely happy with how well the groups got on despite the poor weather.”
