Perse pupil prevails in classical reading competition

Neelkantha Mukherjee (Year 11) enjoyed double success in the Cambridge Classical Association Reading Competition.

He produced standout performances to win the intermediate Greek prose and Latin prose categories in the event at Cambridge University’s Faculty of Classics, as well as being runner-up in the intermediate Greek verse section.

Meanwhile, Carole Tucker (Lower Sixth) was second in the senior Greek verse category with a super performance of an excerpt from Euripides’ Hecuba.

The Perse was also represented extremely well by Jem Bennett (Upper Sixth), Harry Purvis, Susanna Millhouse and Constanze Topel (all Lower Sixth).

Perse Head of Classics Seb Foster said: “All of our pupils gave a terrific account of both themselves and the school. Their performances were all well prepared and all pupils displayed great composure.”
