Perse Prep hockey team secures regional title

The Perse Prep girls’ U11 hockey team put in an exceptional display on their way to being crowned IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) regional champions.
They went through the competition at Framlingham College unbeaten and did not concede a single goal from open play as they claimed the title and a place in next month’s IAPS national finals at Cheltenham College.
The team topped their group with a 100% record, starting with a 1-0 victory over Littlegarth School.
Successive 2-0 wins against Ipswich School and Framlingham followed before The Perse edged out Norwich School 1-0 in their final pool match.
The girls beat Dame Bradbury’s School 2-0 in the quarter-finals and held their nerve to overcome King’s Langley School 3-2 on penalties in their semi-final after a goalless draw.
Another nail-biter ensued in the final as the team were held to a 0-0 stalemate by South Lee Prep School, but they came good with a 2-1 triumph in the shootout to book their spot in the IAPS finals.
