Top author gives insightful talk in World Book Day visit to Perse Prep

Leading children’s author Sally Gardner thrilled pupils at The Perse Prep with her special World Book Day visit.

Sally won the Carnegie Medal and Costa Children’s Book Award with her novel Maggot Moon and is also well known for her popular Wings & Co: The Fairy Detective Agency series.

An audience of pupils, dressed up as their favourite literary characters, listened as Sally gave an enthralling talk about the worlds and characters she has created, as well as her personal experience of dyslexia and her journey to becoming a writer.

Librarian Ros West, who organised the event, said: “We had a wonderful day with Sally Gardner. She spoke very powerfully and encouraged all the children to try to achieve their dreams.”

Prep pupils also did their bit to support CUHELP, a cause that aims to improve educational standards in rural Nepal, by donating pre-loved books to be given to children in the remote Helambu region of the country.
